This was recorded by the Portsmouth Sinfonia in an experiment where all the members of the orchestra would swap instruments with each other and attempt to play them to the best of their ability.
favorite things about this
literally all the brass starts to get the hang of it and then the crescendos happen and everyone is like FUCK FUCK FUCK??? FUCK. JUST. BLOW RLY HARD.
the strings are lazy but also the same. like u can tell a lot of the ppl w/ the stringed instruments may already basically know how to play stringed instruments. like there’s definitely a section at the beginning where you hear a good portion going “oh yeah this is like. a smaller/bigger version of what i do.”
all you hear of any woodwinds is just “pffffttt??? pFFFTTTT???? PFFFFFTTTT I SAID PFFFFTTTT!!!!!” bc woodwinds are fucking HARD and you hear after like the first crescendo half of them just give up. they give up. they’re done. fuck this it tastes weird and my lips hurt.
that trumpet. that person is fucking TRYING man they fucking GOT this. they may not have figured out notes but they figured out LOUD and they GOT this.
We started band camp on July 29th August 21st from 8-4 with an hour and a half lunch break not bad of a lunch break but it's so hot and humid in Texas the temperatures are above a 100. We also have 12 hours days from 8am - 8 pm I hate these days they start this week on Tuesday! Agh it's going to suck. We have a band of about 170 or 180 it's a lot of hard work.
If there’s one thing I learned from band, it’s that band is hard. And painful. But 12 hours??? I sleep for 12 hours in the summer…
We just finished our two weeks of band camp. The first week was 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and we stayed outside until noon with only 45 minutes for lunch. The temp was mostly around 98 degrees. The second week was 12:00 to 9:00. Inside till 5:00 then outside till 9:00. Only 45 minutes for dinner. And any of our water breaks were only about 5 minutes and we only had three each day. But our show looks great so far. All of our work has paid off!
I read all the anon mail about everyone's band camp starting at like 7 in the morning and sometimes going till like 9 Pm and i think that's the craziest thing because mine starts from 4:45 to 9. We don't rehearse as long as other bands but still.
My band camp starts august 4th and we have practice every weekday from 6:45am to 4 pm. First part of the day outside and last inside, thank god(the Texas heat gets to you). And we end when school starts around late august-early September. The best part about summer band is the fact that I don't tan what's so ever, so while everyone has their band tans I'm still as white as ever:D
Good luck at ur band camp! I didn’t think my legs would burn because they usually don’t, but I was very wrong…
our bandcamp is 2 weeks from 8-4 with an hour break for lunch. this year there are over 200 of us and we have 21 on the drumline. we don't have stands for our drums bc we're too cheap :'( so we just use carriers the entire time but it's so worth it once competition season comes around bc we almost always win overall. also we don't have a pit.. we're very traditional haha
We don’t have a pit either. There’s one kid that plays bells and since the band director won’t let us have a pit he just rigged up a harness and played marching bells.
